Building financial literacy across generations in Birmingham
quaint-star began with a straightforward observation: too many people feel anxious or uncertain when it comes to managing money. Whether adults struggling with budgeting or young people receiving no financial education at school, the gap in practical money skills affects households across Birmingham and beyond.
Founded in 2019 by a group of educators and financial professionals, our school set out to bridge that gap. We believe financial literacy should be accessible, engaging, and applicable to real life, regardless of age or background.
Today, we offer courses ranging from playful money lessons for primary-aged children to comprehensive planning workshops for adults preparing for retirement. Each programme reflects our commitment to clarity over complexity.
The principles shaping every course we design and deliver
Theory matters only when it translates into action. Every lesson includes exercises that participants can apply immediately in their own financial lives.
A ten-year-old learns differently than a forty-year-old. Our curricula reflect developmental stages and life circumstances, ensuring relevance at every level.
Money topics can feel personal and vulnerable. We foster judgement-free classrooms where questions are welcomed and learning happens at each person's pace.
Lectures alone rarely change behaviour. That is why our sessions blend brief explanations with hands-on activities, group discussions, and scenario-based problem solving.
For younger learners, we incorporate games, visual aids, and storytelling. For adults, we use case studies, spreadsheet exercises, and goal-setting frameworks. The method matches the audience.
